How to cancel a Netflix subscription (and know when it renews)

Netflix does not lock you into a contract. You can cancel a Netflix subscription at any time, keep watching until the end of the period you already paid for, and rejoin later without losing your profiles. The one thing worth getting right is who bills you, because that decides where you cancel and whether a charge keeps landing after you thought you were done.

The short answer: how to cancel Netflix

If Netflix bills your card directly, cancel from the website. Sign in at netflix.com, open Account (the Manage Membership page), select Cancel Membership, then Finish Cancellation. Netflix sends a confirmation email to the address on the account.

There is no separate cancel button buried inside the TV app or the mobile app. Opening Account from the app hands you off to a browser to finish the same steps. Billed through a provider or an app store?
