The short version
Everything you put into the app lives in a local database on your device. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising, and nothing is sold or shared with anyone. Two exceptions, both optional: if you subscribe to LapseGuard Pro, the purchase itself is processed by Apple and validated through RevenueCat, and if you turn on iCloud sync, your data syncs between your devices through your own private iCloud. We never see your data either way.
What the app stores, on your device only
The items you add (names, categories, due dates, notes, amounts), the people or companies you assign them to, any photos you attach, and your settings (reminder lead times, country, language, currency). All of it is stored locally on your iPhone. It is never transmitted to us or to any third party. With iCloud sync turned on (a Pro option, off by default), a copy also lives in your private iCloud so your other devices stay up to date. Deleting the app deletes this data.
iCloud sync (optional, Pro)
If you enable iCloud sync, a LapseGuard Pro feature that is off by default, your items and settings sync between your devices through your personal iCloud account, using Apple’s iCloud storage. That copy lives in your private iCloud space, protected by your Apple ID; we operate no server and cannot read it. Apple handles this data under its own iCloud terms. Turning sync off stops the syncing, and each device keeps its local data.
What we do not do
- No account or sign-up: we never learn who you are.
- No analytics or tracking SDKs in the app. The only third-party service is RevenueCat, used solely to process LapseGuard Pro purchases (see below).
- No advertising and no ad identifiers.
- No selling, renting, or sharing of data.
Subscriptions and purchases (LapseGuard Pro)
LapseGuard Pro is an optional subscription sold through Apple's App Store. Payment, billing details, and cancellation are handled entirely by Apple; we never see your name, email, or payment information. To know whether your subscription is active, the app uses RevenueCat, a purchase validation service. RevenueCat receives the App Store purchase receipt and a random anonymous identifier generated on your device. That identifier is not linked to your identity (there is none to link) and is not used for tracking or advertising. If you never subscribe, none of this applies. You can cancel anytime in your iPhone's Settings under your Apple ID subscriptions.
Notifications
Reminders are local notifications, scheduled by the app on your device. They do not come from a server, and scheduling them sends nothing anywhere.
Photos
If you attach a photo to an item, the photo library permission is used only to let you pick the image. The copy you attach is kept in the app's local storage on your device, like everything else.
This website
lapseguard.app is a static site. It sets no cookies. We count page views anonymously (PostHog, hosted on EU servers) to see which pages are read, how many people visit, and which sites they arrive from — with no cookies, no identifier that survives your visit, and no tracking across other sites. Our hosting provider (Vercel) may keep standard server logs to operate the service.
Changes
If the app ever gains a feature that changes any of the above, this policy will be updated before that feature ships, and the change will be visible on this page. That is how the optional iCloud sync was added: the section above shipped together with the feature.
