Cancelling Disney+ is usually a two minute job, but only if you do it in the right place. Disney lets you subscribe through its own site, through an app store, or through a TV or telecom provider, and you can only stop the payment from wherever it started. Get that part right and the rest is easy: your access runs to the end of the period you already paid for, and your account stays intact.
First, find out where you subscribed
This is the one detail that trips people up. Disney+ bills you through whichever channel you used to sign up, and that same channel is the only one that can cancel you. There are five common ones: directly on DisneyPlus.com, the Apple App Store, Google Play, Amazon, or a TV or telecom operator that bundles Disney+ into your plan. If you are not sure which applies to you, open your Account page on DisneyPlus.com in a web browser. If your plan and billing history show up there, Disney bills you directly. If that page shows nothing, your subscription is billed by one of the others, and that is where you cancel.
Cancel a subscription billed directly by Disney
If Disney is your biller, cancel from a web browser. Sign in at DisneyPlus.com, open your Account page, find your subscription under Subscription, and choose Cancel Subscription. Disney confirms by email, and the subscription stops renewing at the end of the current term. A phone browser works fine for this, you do not need a computer.
Cancel through the store or provider that bills you
If an app store or a provider takes the payment, Disney cannot cancel it for you. You manage it where the charge appears:
- Apple: open Settings on your iPhone or iPad, tap your name, then Subscriptions, select Disney+, and cancel there. (Apple no longer sells new Disney+ signups, but people already billed by Apple still manage them here.)
- Google Play: open the Play Store, go to Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions, pick Disney+, and cancel.
- Amazon: open Amazon’s Memberships and Subscriptions and cancel Disney+ from there.
- A TV or telecom operator: if Disney+ came bundled with your TV box or phone plan, the operator bills it, so cancel or remove it from your account with that operator.
If you would rather Disney bill you directly, cancel with the store first, then sign up again at DisneyPlus.com.
What happens after you cancel
Nothing disappears the moment you cancel. You keep full access until the end of the period you already paid for, whether that is the rest of the month or the rest of the year. Cancelling does not delete your Disney+ account or the MyDisney account tied to it, so your profiles and Watchlist stay put. Change your mind before the period ends and you can switch the subscription back on with no gap.
When does Disney+ renew, and when are you charged
Disney+ renews automatically on the same date each cycle until you cancel. If Disney bills you directly, you can see your plan and your next renewal date on your Account page from a phone or web browser, and your full billing history (the last two years of charges) on DisneyPlus.com in a web browser, not in the app. If a store or operator bills you, the renewal date lives in that account instead: your Apple or Google subscriptions screen, Amazon, or your operator’s billing page. That date is the one to write down, because a cancellation only saves you money if it lands before the next charge. Full detail: when does Disney+ renew.
FAQ
Can you cancel a Disney+ subscription at any time? Yes. You can cancel whenever you like, and it takes effect at the end of your current billing period. There is no cancellation fee.
How do I cancel Disney+ on the app? You cannot cancel inside the Disney+ app itself. If Disney bills you, use a web browser at DisneyPlus.com. If an app store bills you, cancel in that store’s subscription settings, not in the Disney+ app.
Does Disney+ have a free trial? No. Disney+ does not currently offer a free trial (as of July 2026), so a new subscription bills from day one unless a specific promotion says otherwise.
Will I get a refund if I cancel early? Not by default. Disney does not refund the unused part of a period; instead you keep access until it ends. Refunds are handled case by case by Disney+ Support, and if a store or operator billed you, their refund policy applies.
Can I cancel Disney+ in the UK the same way? Yes. The steps are identical in the UK. Cancel on DisneyPlus.com if Disney bills you, or through the app store or TV provider that takes the payment if not.
Never pay for a Disney+ you meant to cancel
The charge that stings is the one you forgot was coming. LapseGuard keeps your Disney+ renewal date in front of you and nudges you before it hits, so you cancel on your terms instead of spotting it on a statement. Add the date in seconds. Free, on your device, no account.
