Check your exact billing date
On the web, go to your account page. The next bill and its date are at the top of the account overview. In the app, tap your profile picture, then Settings and privacy, then Account, then Billing. Spotify’s own rule is simple: your billing cycle starts on the date you subscribed, so if you signed up on the 14th, the 14th is when it renews.
One catch. If you pay through Apple or Google rather than Spotify directly, the store handles the renewal, so the date lives on the store’s subscription page (on iPhone, Settings then your Apple Account then Subscriptions; on Android, Google Play then Payments and subscriptions), not inside Spotify.
Trial ending: when the first charge lands
During a free trial you are not charged. The first payment lands the day the trial period ends, on the card you registered, unless you cancel before that day. That first charge date then becomes your ongoing billing date. You may also see a small temporary authorization hold when you sign up, which just verifies the card and is released shortly, so do not mistake it for the real renewal.
Renew, fail, or cancel: the three endings
When your billing date arrives, one of three things happens.
It renews. Spotify charges your card and Premium rolls on for another cycle. Nothing to do.
It fails. If a monthly payment fails, you will not immediately lose Premium: Spotify tries to take the payment again over the next few days. Update or fix the card and the retry clears. If it still cannot collect, Premium lapses and your account drops back to the free, ad-supported tier, the same place a cancelled plan lands.
You cancel. Premium stays until your next billing date, then the account switches to free.
